Art for Healing

It´s so comforting to believe that everything happens for a reason, but why does that penny only drop with hindsight? On days when chaos reigns and nothing works as it should, serenity, acceptance of life on life´s terms fly out of the window. Recently I had one of those frustrating days when lots of annoying things happened at once, this broke and that was cancelled. The broadband stopped working and the arthritic knee started yelling. Stairs were now out of the question.

My Meditation Place is where I sit in quiet reflection, far away from the stress of everyday life while my troubles are washed away, and the path ahead however daunting, becomes clear and free from fear.

No coincidences.

To access the socket for the wireless connection, I had to move a bookcase. To move the bookcase, the books had to come off the shelves and a long-forgotten book which I gave my mother many years ago fell at my feet. Curing Arthritis The Drug Free Way by Margaret Hills. My mother trusted her doctors completely and wouldn´t have anything to do with it. I read that book and found exactly what I needed.

I´m drawn to alternative medicine and spiritual healing. I trained as a Reiki Master, and in my healing paintings, I bring together my experience as an artist with my learning about Reiki, runes, tarot and the power of symbols. These paintings, 9" x 12", can be used for meditation, manifestation, clarity. I often paint them as commissions and feel privileged to participate in such conversations. The heart knows what it longs for.

I use the high vibrational chakra colours, red, gold, green, purple. On either side of the canvas I place Cho ku rei: the Reiki power symbol which contains and magnifies the energy within the painting. On the back, I put the Dai Ko Myo, the “Master” symbol, one of the most powerful symbols in Reiki that can be used only by Reiki Masters.

My mother would have shaken her head and rolled her eyes but it won´t be long before Sunny and I are out walking among the purple heather in the New Forest.

Nothing happens by chance.
